Bridal Jewelry Trends
Bridal jewelry trends are constantly changing. If you have ever looked through an old catalog or fashion print book, you will almost certainly be able to readily identify the different changes from one period to the next – at least, between an old period and the modern one. It can often be difficult for us to tell what kind of differences exist in the moment, considering that change happens slowly, but looking back in retrospect can be one way of making clear distinctions. Bridal jewelry is no exception.

When we think of engagement rings, the image that usually comes to mind is that of a gold band and a mid-sized diamond plainly adorning the center. There is still a sense of glamour attached to it and many couples will opt for this traditional engagement style, but there have been exciting new allowances in popular culture and style that have given birth to braver, more modern engagement and wedding band styles.
Eternity bands are one of the classiest versions of just that, and are often reserved for anniversary gifts. These bands include small diamonds, usually at least three or four in a row, set against a dark band. There are many variations on this template used to create different looks, but the basic set up keeps simplicity, sleekness and modern glamour at the forefront of its design.
The popularity of the left hand ring has developed in opposition to right hand romantic partnership designations. In fact, they are so many different companies currently doing business in this market that it has garnered quite a bit of attention with women’s groups and presses. The idea is this: celebrating independent, unpartnered womanhood by effectively “marrying” yourself – that is, subverting the initial visual element of the right hand ring by wearing a band on the opposite hand to show your partnership with yourself.
Bridal jewelry has always been a space of incredible invocation, and there are dozens of internationally renowned designers who have made huge changes to the modern industry and can attest the power of a design trend, which, if successfully adapted into the industry as a new standard, can have a life that extends far beyond its initial conception. With the bridal fine jewelry industry getting more daring and creative every wedding season, there is no wonder that many designers in other arenas consistently look to up-and-coming wedding designer collections for inspiration.
